Smart Thermostat & HVAC Control Solutions
Comfort depends on how your heating and cooling equipment responds to the spaces you use and the schedule you keep. From replacing an older thermostat to coordinating Mitsubishi mini-splits with RTI, we plan controls around your existing equipment, preferred settings and everyday routines.

Smart Thermostat Installation & Replacement
Replacing an older thermostat can make daily adjustments easier, but the right choice depends on more than appearance or app features. We check equipment compatibility, wiring and power requirements before recommending a Nest thermostat or another suitable option.
Installation includes configuring operating modes, schedules and account access, followed by testing with your heating and cooling equipment. We also explain automatic features so you can decide which settings should follow a routine and which should remain under your control.
✓ Compatibility checks before equipment selection
✓ C-wire and power requirement assessment
✓ Temperature schedules and app configuration
✓ Operating tests and everyday guidance
Mitsubishi Mini-Split Controls
Separate remotes can make it difficult to keep track of temperatures across bedrooms, additions and other independently conditioned spaces. Compatible Mitsubishi Electric systems offer options for organizing those adjustments through connected controls and supported interfaces.
We review indoor unit models, existing controllers and available connections before planning an upgrade. Depending on the installation, this may involve Mitsubishi’s Comfort app or a CoolAutomation interface, while preserving the functions your equipment needs to operate properly.
✓ Model-specific compatibility and interface checks
✓ Supported app setup and remote access
✓ Individual room settings and scheduling
✓ Guidance on existing remotes and wall controls

RTI Climate Control Integration
If you already use RTI for entertainment or lighting, compatible temperature controls can become part of that familiar interface. This gives you a convenient place to make adjustments without reaching for a separate app for every task.
We program supported HVAC connections around clearly named rooms, useful presets and straightforward navigation. Scheduling is coordinated with existing thermostats to reduce conflicting commands, and local controls remain part of the plan so everyday operation stays understandable.
✓ Temperature adjustments through RTI interfaces
✓ Clearly labeled rooms and available operating modes
✓ Coordination with existing thermostat schedules
✓ Testing, documentation and programming support
CoolAutomation HVAC Integration
Ductless and variable-capacity equipment often uses manufacturer-specific communication that a conventional smart thermostat cannot manage directly. CoolAutomation provides interfaces for connecting supported systems to compatible automation platforms without treating every installation as a standard thermostat replacement.
We identify the equipment models, communication requirements and intended control platform before selecting an interface. The design accounts for available functions, existing controllers and network connections, with mechanical questions coordinated with your HVAC contractor when needed.
✓ Compatibility review for supported HVAC equipment
✓ Appropriate gateway and interface selection
✓ Integration with compatible automation platforms
✓ Verification of available commands and feedback

Room Sensors & Multi-Zone Comfort
A hallway reading may not reflect how comfortable you feel in an upstairs bedroom or a frequently used office. Compatible remote sensors can help supported thermostats respond to selected spaces, while existing HVAC zones allow separate temperature settings where the equipment provides them.
We assess sensor placement, participation settings and daily occupancy before configuring the controls. Sensors cannot correct inadequate airflow or create independent mechanical zones, so we explain what adjustments can accomplish and where further evaluation may be needed.
✓ Sensor placement away from misleading heat sources
✓ Room priorities matched to daily routines
✓ Configuration of existing heating and cooling zones
✓ Evaluation of persistent temperature differences
Remote Access, Schedules & Temperature Alerts
Being able to check conditions while away is useful when plans change or a property sits unoccupied. Supported apps let you review temperatures, adjust settings and receive available notifications without being physically beside the wall control.
We configure account access, practical schedules and supported alerts, then explain how those features depend on power, connectivity and equipment capabilities. You will understand what continues locally during an internet interruption and which remote functions become unavailable until the connection returns.
✓ App setup and authorized household access
✓ Everyday, overnight and away schedules
✓ Supported temperature and equipment notifications
✓ Guidance on internet interruptions and local operation

Smart Thermostat & Comfort Control Questions
Will a smart thermostat work with my old boiler and radiators?
Usually, yes. Many older boilers only run two thermostat wires and don’t supply the steady power most smart thermostats need, often called a C-wire. We can add a wire, use an approved power adapter or choose a model designed for that setup. A smart thermostat controls when the boiler runs, so it won’t change how quickly radiators heat a room.
My old Nest stopped working with the app. What should I do?
Google ended app support for the first- and second-generation Nest Learning Thermostats in October 2025. They still work as basic thermostats, but remote control and new features are gone. We can confirm your model, check the wiring and install a current Nest or Honeywell thermostat that fits your system.
Can my Mitsubishi mini-splits be controlled from one app or keypad?
Often, yes. Mitsubishi’s own app controls each indoor unit, and an interface such as CoolAutomation can bring them into a home control system like RTI or Lutron. Whether that’s possible depends on your unit models and existing controllers, so Barry checks them before recommending a setup.
Why does one room feel cold when the thermostat says it’s 70?
A thermostat only reads the spot where it’s mounted. A sunny hallway, a nearby radiator or a cold exterior wall can throw off the reading. Room sensors, better placement or a separate zone usually help, and if a room simply isn’t getting enough heat, we’ll refer it to your HVAC contractor.
Can you fix an ecobee or a thermostat another company installed?
Yes. We service Nest, Honeywell, ecobee and other smart thermostats and HVAC controls, including systems we didn’t install. We find the cause first, whether that’s settings, wiring, power or Wi-Fi, and keep what still works.
Do I still need an HVAC contractor?
For the heating and cooling equipment itself, yes. We handle thermostats, mini-split controls, wiring, integration and the network that keeps everything connected. Your HVAC contractor handles the boiler, furnace, heat pump, ductwork, refrigerant, sizing and any Clean Heat incentive applications.
Will a smart thermostat lower my energy bills?
It can help by keeping the house from being heated or cooled when nobody needs it, but results depend on your equipment, your home and how the schedules are used. We focus on schedules your family will follow.
